Mabel

Rescued in December 2025. Seeking Sponsor. On her way to us in early January 2026!

Mabel is a 20+ year-old large chestnut pony mare and a severe starvation case. All we know about her is that she was dropped off at a kill pen in Oklahoma by a family who said they could no longer afford to feed her, and that she is very kind.

She is finishing up six weeks of quarantine and an initial refeeding program so that she is well enough to travel to us in January. She spent five days at the local vet clinic where she was treated for anemia, dehydration, hookworms, inflammation, infection and neglected teeth. We thought perhaps she would be a euthanasia case, but she responded immediately to treatment. Mabel is not only eating her senior mashes voraciously, she is following her caretakers around!
